INVITED SPEAKER: Guy T. Almes (Chief Engineer, Internet2 Project)
Internet2: Technology Innovation and Distributed Infrastructure

Abstract: The Internet2 project aims to support American universities in their teaching and research missions. While the most important test of Internet2 are the advanced applications that emerge to provide this support, this talk focuses on engineering issues - especially technical innovations in engineering and the nature of the engineering infrastructure needed to support the advanced applications.

The technical innovations part emphasizes measurements, quality of service, and multicast on an Internet2 wide basis. The infrastructure part emphasizes a current description of the Abilene backbone.
